About Excellence in aging (RRR)

  1. To foster an inclusive approach, uniting all generations in the collective effort to review and propose updates to the Health Care Act, ensuring its relevance to the 21st century and adaptability over time.
  2. To champion the cause with the Federal government, advocating for a specialized funding formula that encompasses both long-term and specialized care services, as well as emotional health care resources.
  3. To ignite a spirit of creativity and innovation by conducting pilot projects involving seniors, families, community partners, staff, and students in applied research and professional development initiatives.
  4. To actively involve participants and stakeholders in shaping and developing public policies aimed at transforming the current care culture, emphasizing a people-centered model in various domains, such as telemedicine.
  5. To cultivate a positive image and challenge the existing healthcare teaching models by incorporating elements like telemedicine, thereby redefining the process of healthcare delivery.

“The Story of Bill”

From its heartfelt beginnings in a small private long term care home in Southwestern Ontario in 2002 the “Story of Bill” has been shared nationally in recognition and support of one resident’s courageous battle to positively transform the culture of long-term care in terms of the biopsychosocial skills required to achieve a People Centred approach to care.
